Reefer handling closes October with record increments!
In October 2021, Porto Itapoá recorded a historic increase in the handling of reefer units operated by the terminal, compared to last year. The total average increase among the 6 main customers handling reefer containers through Itapoá reached 403.3% , surpassing the 2020 figures. The two largest customers in this category alone handled a total of 2,064 units during the 31 days of last month.
According to specialist Jeferson Gilgen, responsible for the general service of the reefer chain, the increase recorded in October was mainly due to three basic reasons – the consolidation of the ASAS East Bound service of shipowner Maersk, the doors to connect Itapoá to Asia have opened in exports, causing considerable volumes to be migrated from other terminals to Itapoá. Another point was the strengthening of partnerships and commercial strategies with the main clients for exports to the Middle East, who already worked with other Brazilian ports. Finally, Itapoá’s infrastructure, which allows it to provide robust power supply outlets and temperature monitoring of the units stored in the terminal with greater anticipation of boarding, together with the presence of an exclusive customer service team and the entire operational team, capable of adapting to cater to customer needs and customize solutions.
