Import operation – complete logistics: reception, handling, de-unitization, storage and loading of large steel coils
In September, Porto Itapoá carried out a pilot operation for steel coil import, each weighing 4 tons, used in the manufacture of electrical transformers. The 22 LCL (Less Container Load) volumes arrived on the Maersk Lima vessel.
In this end-to-end operation, after unloading the ship, the containers with steel coils were directed to the Terminal’s warehouse. There, the unloading, identification, and storage procedures were carried out and, later, trucks destined for Cuiabá (MT) were loaded under the customs transit regime (DTA).
One of the largest manufacturers of electrical transformers in the country, the client already operated the unloading of FCL (Full Container Load) containers through Porto Itapoá, but the goods were diverted to another bonded facility in a secondary zone. With this successful pilot event, the entire operation was concentrated in our Terminal, resulting in streamlined logistics and document procedures, in addition to greater convenience and security, as well as lower costs.
