Porto Itapoá kicks off 2025 with monthly handling record
Porto Itapoá achieved a historic milestone in January 2025 by recording the highest monthly handling in its history, totaling 71,572 movements. This record reflects significant growth and demonstrates the terminal’s operational efficiency and capacity.
Ricardo Arten, CEO of Porto Itapoá, emphasized: “This record is a reflection of the commitment and dedication of the entire team, as well as the investments we have made to enhance our infrastructure and services.” Additionally, the port also set a record for ship dockings, with 63 vessels operated during the month, and for TEUs (a unit equivalent to a 20-foot container) handled, reaching an unprecedented 129,064 TEUs. These numbers reflect the growing demand and the terminal’s ability to serve the market with agility and safety.
Compared to previous figures, the handling record surpassed the previous peak of 67,527 movements in October 2024, representing a 6% growth. Compared to January 2024, when 54,196 movements were recorded, the increase was 32%.
The number of dockings also grew significantly, exceeding the previous record of 61 ships set in November 2024, with a 3% increase. Compared to January 2024, when 50 vessels were operated, the growth was 26%.
In terms of TEU handling, the previous record was 122,724 TEUs, now surpassed by 5%. Compared to January 2024, when 98,343 TEUs were handled, the impressive increase was 31%. Cargo loading and unloading operations also recorded significant volumes, with 6,258 dry export containers, 4,599 refrigerated export containers, 1,484 dry cabotage containers, and 1,018 refrigerated cabotage containers. In the import segment, the terminal handled 24,789 dry cargo containers and 624 refrigerated containers. Transshipment reached 17,328 operations. “The diversification of operations and the significant volume in each segment reinforce our ability to meet market demands with agility and safety,” said Arten.
The historic record in January 2025 is the result of the commitment of the Porto Itapoá team, continuous investment in infrastructure and innovation, and strategic partnerships with clients and logistics operators. Ricardo Arten celebrated the achievement: “We are proud to solidify Porto Itapoá as one of the most efficient ports in Brazil. This result is an incentive for us to continue investing in excellence and sustainability.” With this historic milestone, Porto Itapoá reaffirms its commitment to expanding its capacity, consolidating itself as one of Brazil’s leading logistics hubs.
Campaign “70K: Mark of Our Achievement”
One of the key motivators for the January record was the internal campaign “70K: Mark of Our Achievement,” launched to encourage employees to reach the goal of 70,000 monthly movements. The initiative, which involved the entire Porto Itapoá team, fostered an environment of engagement and collaboration, with recognition actions and awards for the sectors that contributed the most to achieving the goal. “The campaign was essential to unite the team around a common goal. It showed that together, we are capable of overcoming any challenge and achieving extraordinary results,” emphasized Arten.
