Porto Itapoá was a highlight at the meeting of the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina – FIESC’s Strategic Council for Infrastructure and Logistics of Santa Catarina. The meeting took place this Wednesday (March 17), at the institution’s headquarters, in Florianópolis.
For the president of the port, Cássio Schreiner, the meeting is an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the city of Itapoá and the region. “We could see in the presentation the number of investments and operations that serve the port activity in the municipality”, said Schreiner, who emphasizes: “There is an enormous opportunity in our region. There are about 10 million square meters of potential area for the growth of operations linked to port activity in the transport, storage, and cold rooms industries, among others.”
Another point emphasized by the executive is the possibility of development planning, harmonizing the various related interests. “We have here the ability to provide growth in an organized way, taking care of environmental and social issues, accommodating this socioeconomic balance in a sustainable way,” said Schreiner.
The president presented to the authorities in the room – among them, deputies from the Santa Catarina parliamentary front – and business representatives, company data and indicators, but also opportunities that port activity offers to the Santa Catarina industry. The president of FIESC, Mario Cezar de Aguiar, highlighted the benefits the port brings to the state. Among them, Aguiar recalled that Santa Catarina is the hottest copper trading state and that 60% of the metal is transformed in Joinville. “This is precisely due to the efficiency of the Port of Itapoá, which is really a development inducer,” he said.
Present at the session, Senator Espiridião Amin commented on his recent participation in the most important industrial interconnectivity event in the world, the World Mobile Congress, in Barcelona. “It was great to hear praise in Barcelona for the modernization of our ports, and one of the good examples mentioned was Porto Itapoá”, he celebrated.
In addition to the aforementioned authorities, the meeting was also attended by FIESC’s Executive for the Transport and Logistics Chamber, Egídio Antônio Martorano, the federal deputies Celso Maldaner, Ângela Amin and Carmen Zanotto, the PRF (Federal Highway Police) Superintendent André Saul Nascimento, the consultant Saulo Noronha, the Superintendent of Organized Ports Delegated to the State of Santa Catarina, Jamazi Alfredo Ziegler, Lisandro Parra, representative of the Argentine Consulate, and Marcelo Salles, from Salles Salles Consultoria Portuária (port consultancy).
