Porto Itapoá opens a Professional Development Laboratory
This facility will focus on mechanical maintenance and will make it easier to train the new employees that the port hires.
Porto Itapoá will be able to rely on a new professional development laboratory going forward. The facility is focused on Mechanical Maintenance and will be supported by technical trainers from SENAI (National Industry Training Service). It was due to open this Wednesday (5/7).
One of the trainers that will be teaching courses is Leandro Lenschow, who has lectured for SENAI for three years. He recalls that, currently, the students have to travel to the institution’s campus in Joinville for practical classes. “It is a huge achievement for us and it will be a big benefit for the students”.
This new infrastructure will help us a lot in linking together the theoretical aspects and the practical training. “It is extremely important to improving the training”, added Lenschow, who graduated in Mechanical Manufacturing and has a postgraduate degree in School Administration and an MBA in Project Management.
The first to use the new facilities will be an industrial mechanics course, which started in December last year. However , from this point onwards, all new apprentices in this area will have their practical training in Itapoá.
The Director of Operations, the Environment and Technology for Porto Itapoá, Sergni Pessoa Rosa Junior, highlighted the importance of this new expertise for the city. “We are trying to do our part to create a better future for Itapoá,” said Rosa Junior.
He explained again how important the workers and good training are, not just to the company, but also to the community. “Porto Itapoá is where it is today because of people, so it is very satisfying for us to be able to invest in people,” he added.
Juliana de Oliveira Xavier, Coordinator for People Development, Samuel Medeiros da Silva, Engineering and Infrastructure Manager, Humberto Farkas, Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and Roney Cordeiro dos Santos, Electronic Maintenance Supervisor were also present at the opening.
