Port Itapoá expansion works follow the schedule as planned
Programa Ampliar has already given life to more than 60 projects developed by the community
Funded by Porto Itapoá and developed together with the community, the program is in its seventh year with nine projects approved
Programa Ampliar (Expansion Program) is in its seventh year and already has new initiatives approved for this new cycle. This year, nine projects were selected by the community in five different categories defined in the public notice. This year, voting will be waived, since the public notice had 12 vacancies. The program works in the communities of Pontal, Figueira and Jaguaruna, in Itapoá, in the state of Santa Catarina.
The Specialist in Social Responsibility at the Porto Itapoá Terminal, Patrícia Dall’Onder, celebrated the success of the program, which aims to bring protagonism to the community. “It is an initiative built by the participants, from the definition of the rules of the public notice, such as the evaluation committees and the approval bodies, to the construction of the projects themselves”, she emphasized. “It is gratifying to see the community taking ownership of Projeto Ampliar”, she added. The program is funded by Terminal and developed together with the community.
In all, more than 120 meetings have been held under the program and 63 projects have been approved. Adding up all its editions, Ampliar invested BRL$ 760 thousand in projects created by community members.
Made by the community
The fisherwoman and resident of Figueira, Elisiane Teresinha Freitas de Jesus had two projects approved: Navegando em Alto Mar (Sailing the High Seas), in the Fishing and Agriculture category and Arte e Magia (Art and Magic), in the Income Generation category. The first aims to help the fishing activity, distributing boots and raincoats to fishermen in the three neighborhoods. The second one provides for the distribution of kits to artisans in the community, for making crochet items, rugs, cropped, among other crafts, thus stimulating income generation among those benefited.
“The fishing project, for me, was special because I, as a fisherwoman, have been married to a fisherman for 18 years and have been following the reality and needs of fishermen”, emphasized Elisiane, proponent of the Navegando em Alto Mar project. She explained that, despite being part of the meetings for a long time, this is the first time she has presented her own suggestions. “For me it has been an excellent experience. I’ve just presented these projects and I’m already thinking about the next ones, calling people from the community to create projects”.
Another community member whose project was approved in 2022 was Ericson Francisco de Jesus Demarchi. A resident of Itapoá for over three years and a musician for 25 years, he presented the project Ampliando a Educação Musical (Expanding Music Education), approved in the Communication and Culture category. The objective of the project is to teach the origin, history, instrumentation, touches, techniques and making of simple musical instruments. In addition to workshops, the project includes repertoire rehearsals and two presentations of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, as well as educational support material in digital format, with video classes.
“We have to maintain the customs and traditions of the community, but not ‘plaster’ it (prevent its progress): it is necessary to add new knowledge so that it can maintain its culture and, at the same time, develop, adapt and update itself as a community”, reflected Ericson. “I see Ampliar as an important initiative to help develop the community,” he concluded.

The schedule is defined by the community itself and, thus, new public notices are published every year, always in January.
