Porto Itapoá receives Portos + Brasil Award 2023

Porto Itapoá received the 2023 Portos + Brasil Award. The Terminal was the TUP – Private Use Terminal – with the highest growth in container handling in 2022, with 14.3% compared to the previous year. The Terminal took second place in the Container Handling Growth category, behind only the public port of Rio de Janeiro.

The Portos + Brasil Award recognizes port authorities and public and private terminals, as well as terminal managers for their work and projects. The initiative is from the Ministry of Ports and Airports of the Federal Government, which aims to evaluate the port sector and its management.

Present at the ceremony, held in Brasília, on August 9, the president of Porto Itapoá, Cássio Schreiner, highlighted the period of rapid development of the Terminal. “We invested around R$ 750 million in the expansion of our yard, which will enable us, at the end of the works, to operate over 2 million TEUs per year”, he explains. By the end of this year, the port will have 455,000 m² of yard.

In addition, Schreiner highlighted the results already seen in the first half of this year. “We grew 18% compared to the same period in 2022, which will certainly place us again among the TUPs that grew the most in 2023”, he assesses.
