Terminal took 1st place in the Effluent Treatment category.
With sustainability as one of its main pillars in terms of strategic operations, Porto Itapoá received another Fritz Müller Award, given by IMA (Institute for the Environment of the State of Santa Catarina). In the 22nd edition of this Award, the Terminal took 1st place in the Effluent Treatment category thanks to the project named “Management of non-drinking water – innovation and technology in effluent treatment”, the main goal of which being to protect fresh water sources and water sources from Babitonga Bay. Porto Itapoá was represented at the award ceremony by Director of Operations Sergni Pessoa Rosa Jr., Environmental Supervisor Christiano Pereira, and Enrivonmental Analyst Francine Boeing.
The Fritz Müller Award honors companies and organizations that develop projects in favor of the environment. Many of the awarded initiatives, such as the one promoted by Porto Itapoá, go far beyond what the environmental laws require, with ideas and technologies being used to preserve water resources and promote sustainability, preservation of wildlife, environmental education and management, recycling, the recovery of degraded areas, among others.
In the 2019 edition of the Fritz Müller Award, Porto Itapoá took first place in the Environmental Education category thanks to its “Itapoá Sempre Verde” project. This latest recognition adds to countless other national and international sustainability awards that Porto Itapoá has been receiving in its 10 years of operation. Recently, the Terminal also took 2nd place in the “Environmental Performance” at the 2021 Antaq Awards, given by the National Waterway Transport Agency.
