Porto Itapoá achieved the notable 4th position in the ANTAQ (National Waterway Transport Agency) ranking, making it the private container terminal with the highest growth in Brazil for the year 2023 compared to 2022. The announcement took place at the Aquaviary Performance Disclosure event organized by ANTAQ on Wednesday (7/1) in Brasília.
In the past year, Porto Itapoá moved over 1 million TEUs, showcasing a remarkable growth of 20.3% compared to the cargo handled in 2022. This increase, the highest among private ports and the top five container movers in Brazil, reflects Porto Itapoá’s commitment and operational efficiency in making significant contributions to the Brazilian port sector.
The event was attended by representatives from major ports in Brazil and was led by the ANTAQ Board of Directors, represented by the entity’s Director-General, Eduardo Nery, and other directors Alber Vasconcellos, Wilson Lima Filho, and Caio Farias. Notable figures present at the official table included the National Secretary of Waterway Transport, Alex Ávila, the President of the Logistics Parliamentary Front, Senator Wellington Fagundes, and the Commander of the Brazilian Navy, Admiral Marcos Olsen.
