Porto Itapoá: Intermodal South America 2024 was a great event
Participation in the 28th edition of Intermodal South America was once again significant for Porto Itapoá. Held from March 5th to 7th at the São Paulo Expo in São Paulo, the event brought together an audience of around 50,000 people, according to the organization’s estimate. Over 500 brands were present at the fair, representing various segments of the logistics and foreign trade sector.
The Terminal had the presence of representatives from various sectors of the company, an important effort to address doubts and questions from customers and partners in all areas of its operation, explained Porto Itapoá’s president, Cássio Schreiner. “In addition to our commercial and customer experience team, we brought employees from operations, IT, innovation, among others, to the fair. The purpose of this is to provide visitors to the stand with a detailed view of our Terminal.”
Once again with a 200m² stand in the center of the event space, Porto Itapoá presented several opportunities for interaction, with virtual navigation screens and the highlight: a miniature autonomous RTG (rubber-tired gantry crane) that the public could operate within the stand. “We are the first port terminal in South America to operate this equipment remotely. We thought it would be fun for people to experience what this will be like,” said Schreiner.
Standing at around 2.5m tall (the actual equipment is over 20m tall), the device was manned from a control connected to a screen, while operators had a defined time to move the container from side to side. “With the enthusiasm of the audience, some queues formed, but everyone managed to be an RTG operator for a day,” joked Porto Itapoá’s president.
