Porto Itapoá sponsors an innovative security project developed by the Itapoá PM-SC, capable of tracking risk situations
Itapoá now has an innovative security network, which uses state-of-the-art cameras and an artificial intelligence system capable of tracking risk situations. The initiative was developed by the 4th Company of the 5th Regional Military Police Command of Santa Catarina (PMSC), sponsored by Porto Itapoá, the Judiciary Branch of Santa Catarina and Itelfibra.
The go-live took place at the headquarters of the 4th Company, in Itapoá, this Wednesday (July 5). According to the creator of the project, the captain of the PMSC, Richardson Bortolini Lima, at first the system will have 20 cameras installed at strategic points in the city. “By the end of the year, the project foresees a total of 50 cameras”, he explained.
Lima emphasizes that, in addition to this, the monitoring network can be expanded using private cameras that are compatible. “To include the private security cameras, it will be necessary to request the connection to the Military Police, who will send a technician for this purpose. We have mapped more than 100 private cameras that are compatible and can be integrated”, he added.
The benefits will be the prevention and aid in criminal investigations and information gathering, as well as a means of proof in procedural instruction. The system has Israeli-based technology that can capture images and interpret abnormal situations, sending a real-time alert to the police.
“It is a pioneering project that will make our city safer. The investment in technology and innovation is something that is in our company’s DNA, which is why it is a pleasure to sponsor an action of this kind. In addition, the partnership established between Porto, the Judiciary Branch, Associations and the Military Police around this project is an example of how we can contribute even more to the development of our city”, he said. Porto Itapoá invested BRL 108,000 in the project.
Public Security Partners Association of Itapoá
The project gave rise to the creation of a specific association to take care of the security of Itapoá. Formed by several members of the community, the Public Security Partners Association is able to participate in public notices for fundraising.
“We can also raise funds through private sponsorships, which will be totally focused on actions in favor of the city’s security, such as, for example, the expansion of our camera system”, said Captain Lima, who is president of the association.
