On September 20 and 22, Porto Itapoá delivered equipment and materials for storage and conservation of Covid-19 vaccines and to support the Health Units for the municipalities of Itapoá and Garuva, in the state of Santa Catarina. The items donated include computers, refrigerators for the conservation of vaccines, thermometers, alcohol gel sanitizer, cotton, needles, syringes, sharp material collectors and reusable ice coils. The Terminal made donations in support of the Unidos pela Vacina (Together for the Vaccine) movement.
The purpose of this initiative was to accelerate immunization and assist in the logistics, transport and storage of vaccines, catering to the needs of each municipality in order to guarantee their supply in the Covid-19 vaccination campaign. “We are proud to be part of a movement as important as this one. This joining of forces is essential to fight the pandemic, save lives and resume social and economic activities,” says Porto Itapoá president Cássio José Schreiner.
Porto Itapoá has been contributing to the health infrastructure in the fight against Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. In 2020, we invested around R$ 1.5 million, including the purchase of respirators for the Emergency Room in Itapoá and the expansion of beds at Hospital São José, in Joinville, a reference in Covid-19 treatment in the area.
