Porto Itapoá will have new service connecting it to Europe
Porto Itapoá will now have another major service to offer its customers. LUX was launched by ONE (Ocean Network Express) and Cosco Shipping in July 2023. With weekly stopovers, this service connects Europe and the Mediterranean to the east coast of South America.
Important ports are part of the route, such as Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Hamburg (Germany), and Antwerp (Belgium), among others. According to Sergni Pessoa Rosa Jr., director of Operations, Technology and Environment at Porto Itapoá, LUX is an interesting option for importers and exporters alike. “The line serves some of the most important ports in Europe, a very interesting market”, he states.
“Also, LUX is the only service available on the market that makes a direct connection from Lisbon to the east coast of South America”, says Rosa Jr. “It’s important to bear in mind that this service also has stopovers in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay”, he concludes.
The LUX route will be as follows:
Rotterdam – London Gateway – Hamburg – Antwerp – Lisbon – Algeciras – Santos – Paranaguá – Montevideo – Buenos Aires – Itapoá – Paranaguá – Santos – Rio de Janeiro – Algeciras – Rotterdam.
