Porto Itapoá: 12 years driving innovation and technology in the port sector
Ampliar Program receives ESG Port Award as the best social project for private terminals
The Security Management Office was successfully trialed during the exercises with the Brazilian navy, last week.
Porto Itapoá is an industry leader in Port Security and technology and is investing in its monitoring and incident response system.
Porto Itapoá is once again at the forefront of Port Security and technology. Its new SecurityManagement Office was used during an exercise with the Brazilian Navy for the first time. This room, next to the CCCom (Communication and Control Center), was designed by Porto Itapoá with advice from a specialist in Security Management from the Federal Police. The Security Office is part of an investment of 3.75 million reais, which also includes a new monitoring system, as well as new cameras, strategically installed throughout the Terminal and a video wall for monitoring the feeds instead of the old monitors.
The system is supported by artificial intelligence and has thermal cameras for better vision at night or when overcast. According to José Aurélio Kalfeld, the Terminal Security Manager, “the embedded AI provides us with better quality and more accurate information for us to monitor, which helps to minimize the risk of human error or people being recruited by organized criminals”.
During the second half of the year, further radar sensors and cameras are due to be installed in the wet area (i.e. the waters of the bay around the quayside), as part of this investment. They will help to monitor the port and moored vessels, even more effectively.
